Terms of Service

The terms that govern your use of AstroSat.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of AstroSat at astrosat.app, (“we”, “us”). By using AstroSat, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

AstroSat is a satellite-tracking web app that shows satellites on a 3D globe, a first-person sky view and a solar-system view, with pass predictions and custom constellations. It is free to use. Creating an account is optional and lets you save tracked satellites and constellations across devices, and set up pass alerts. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no advertising.

2. Important disclaimer — data accuracy

AstroSat is provided for general information and personal interest only.

• Orbital data: satellite positions and pass predictions are computed from public two-line element (TLE) data on a best-effort basis and may be inaccurate, delayed or incomplete.

You must not rely on AstroSat for navigation, safety-critical, operational, legal, financial or professional decisions. Always verify important information with authoritative sources.

3. No charge

AstroSat is provided free of charge. We do not sell subscriptions, take payments or run advertising, and we will not start charging for access you already have without telling you first.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use AstroSat lawfully and not to: disrupt, overload or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure; scrape, harvest or bulk-extract data; reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code except as permitted by law; or resell or commercially exploit the service without our written permission.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used abusively.

6. Intellectual property

AstroSat, including its software, design, branding and content (excluding public orbital data), is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. The content you create (your tracked lists and custom constellations) remains yours.

7. Third-party services

AstroSat depends on third-party providers including Google Firebase, Resend, Microsoft Azure and public orbital-data sources (Space-Track / CelesTrak). We are not responsible for outages, errors, changes or discontinuation of these third-party services, and their availability is outside our control.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep AstroSat available, but it is a free service and carries no availability commitment at all. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

AstroSat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted availability, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of profit, loss of data or reputational damage, or for any damage arising from inaccurate orbital data, AI-generated content, or third-party service failures. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed EUR 50 — except where a limitation cannot lawfully be applied, such as for our own intent or gross negligence. You pay us nothing for AstroSat.

11. Termination

You may stop using AstroSat at any time and may request deletion of your account (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the service and its users.

12. Changes

We may update the service and these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms we will update the “Last updated” date above; your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

15. Who runs this

AstroSat is a free, non-commercial personal project run by one person in the Netherlands. It is not a business, it sells nothing and it takes no payments.
